Blurry Text in Windows 8

I did a clean install of Windows 8 RTM when it became available.

The blurry font rendering that plagued the Preview versions has remained.

It is particularly bad in IE10 and Office 2013.

No amount of adjustment with Clear Type tuner helps much.

I have tried all the fixes recommended like ticking "use Software rendering instead of GPU rendering" in IE10 and in Options in Office 2013.

It makes absolutely no difference.

I installed Windows 8 on completely different hardware to check if it was a graphics card issue. The poor font rendering was still there.

I am currently dual booting Windows 7 and 8 on the same PC. Fonts in Windows 7 remain perfectly clear. In windows 8 they are so bad, the OS is basically unusable.

How do I get readable fonts in Windows 8?

Hardware: ASUS P8Z77-V PRO, Intel Core i7 3770K, ASUS Radeon HD7770 graphics, Samsung Syncmaster 2443BW 24 inch monitor.

In Chrome 37.x go to chrome://flags and disable DirectWrite. That's the first thing i did with this update.

Another Samsung display.   Coincidence?   Do the Samsung forums have any noise about this?...

Their Support seems to think it is mostly hardware related

But it appears that they don't have any user forums (at least in the US or Canada), so that would avoid them being a focus of this issue.

I'm sure it's not hardware related issue because Firefox et Chrome work well on display on W8. My issue is mainly on IE 10 and the mail App which has a terrible display for the last one. It's a software related issue. But i think it's from Microsoft because when i had Windows 7 it was good with IE 9 before upgrading to Windows 8 and IE 10 where i have really bad display

Hello,

I have the same issue with my screen a laptop 15,6 inch Samsung 1366*768 display and the point the font rendering in IE is aweful, unusable. I tried all ClearType settings and all graphics settings possible and nothing, the display is still blurry. The point is the display is clear in Firefox and Chrome, not amazing but good. I would like also talk about the Mail Metro App in W8 that i can't even use, too blurry.

It's really weird that's Microsoft didn't notice this issue, It really messes up my experience on W8 and i don't even use IE anymore because of that.

I hope this bug will be report to Microsoft and be solved in a future update

Found a way to give feedback on the rendering technique change.

Go to this link:

At the base of the feedback survey there is a section where we can tell them about the issue.

This will likely be our best bet of getting the text rendering improved, or maybe even ClearType support for the new products.

Thanks to @WindowsSupport for providing the link.

If we can get enough people sending feedback on the issue, we may just get this fixed.

I'll post this on a few other posts, I will miss heaps so if your up to it, post it wherever you think it'll help.
