Windows 8 Touch Screen not working on my Gateway ZX6971

I have a Gateway ZX6971 all in one touch screen. I recently downloaded the windows 8 release preview  and i cant find anyway to get my touch screen capabilities working again. Is there a way to fix this problem? I tried reintalling the Card Reader Driver and try to open some touch programs in capability mode. Is there anything I can do to do my touch screen back? It worked fine in Windows 7. Any help or advice would be great! Thank you!

Hi ssackfield88,

This issue may be a display driver issue. I checked Gateway's website for available drivers for the ZX6971 and there are no Windows 8 drivers. Use the contact us link here to see when or if drivers will be available to support Windows 8 on your computer.

I am going to try "Driver Genius" and upgrade the Intel chipset drivers.  It looks like the ones embedded within Windows 8 are from 2006?

    Keep us posted

Nope...  This is very annoying!  Especially when it worked in preview.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting the query in Microsoft Community!

As I understand the touch screen is not working on Windows 8.

To use touch input, you must have specific hardware to use the touch screen.

    Method 1:

Let's upgrade the driver for touch screen drivers as it says it is available or install the touch screen drivers in the compatibility mode and check if it helps.

Steps to install the driver in compatibility mode:

Let's right-click on the setup file and click on ‘Troubleshoot Compatibility’.

    Method 2:

Let's install the latest Windows Updates and check if that helps.

    a) Press ‘Windows + W’ key to search Settings.

    b) Type **‘Windows Updates’**and press enter.

    c) Select ‘Check for updates.’

    Hope the information is helpful.

Please let us know the results of the provided steps; also feel free to post us if you face Windows issue in future.

We would be happy to help!

I just bit the bullet and purchased it. I know last night there were 5 conflicts when I checked compatibility and now there are only 3. They are obviously getting things fixed. Still says touchscreen is an issue though. Hope it won't be much longer before we have a solution!!
