Windows 8 Touch Screen not working on my Gateway ZX6971

I have a Gateway ZX6971 all in one touch screen. I recently downloaded the windows 8 release preview  and i cant find anyway to get my touch screen capabilities working again. Is there a way to fix this problem? I tried reintalling the Card Reader Driver and try to open some touch programs in capability mode. Is there anything I can do to do my touch screen back? It worked fine in Windows 7. Any help or advice would be great! Thank you!

Hi ssackfield88,

This issue may be a display driver issue. I checked Gateway's website for available drivers for the ZX6971 and there are no Windows 8 drivers. Use the contact us link here to see when or if drivers will be available to support Windows 8 on your computer.

    SmashingSeltzer,

I have the ZX4951. Here is what i did to get full functionality back, just like it was in the release preview of Windows 8.

I uninstalled any IdeaCom drivers and programs I have tried in the past few weeks to fix the issue. (This part is very important.)

I downloaded the IdeaCom Touch Driver for the ZX4971. Select Windows 8 x64 from the Operating System drop down, and then download the driver.

I installed the driver by running the setup.exe, restarted the computer and all is back to normal.

Hope this works for you also!

    Thanks,

    Dan

I'm not having much luck. I'd done a lot of digging around and have even gone as far as re-installing windows to make sure none of my modifications are affecting things. With this and the other driver mentioned earlier (The windows 7 one) installed, I get some sporadic functionality.

My model is actually modified with a different graphics card (It has a free PCI slot, by the way -- had to do some serious case-modding, though. ) It is also the ZX4951-**33e.**So, my situation might be different for those reasons.
