I have a Gateway ZX6971 all in one touch screen. I recently downloaded the windows 8 release preview and i cant find anyway to get my touch screen capabilities working again. Is there a way to fix this problem? I tried reintalling the Card Reader Driver and try to open some touch programs in capability mode. Is there anything I can do to do my touch screen back? It worked fine in Windows 7. Any help or advice would be great! Thank you!

This issue may be a display driver issue. I checked Gateway's website for available drivers for the ZX6971 and there are no Windows 8 drivers. Use the contact us link here to see when or if drivers will be available to support Windows 8 on your computer.
Gave up on the ping pong match from Microsoft back to gateway. I just took the zx6971 back to best buy and got a replacement after over 3 hrs. of talk. now I'm on a brand new system with all the touch and remote capabilities I need. I did take A BATH AT THE TUNE OF ALMOST $300.00 bucks. but that's cool for my piece of mind.
I have the zx6971 running windows 8 64 bit pro. my remote was not working initially until i downloaded all the drivers from here: http://support.gateway.com/ca/fr/product/default.aspx?modelId=3931. I downloaded and extracted all the files myself and ran all programs labled "application". then i downloaded the free media center thing (after waiting almost 24 hours for Microsoft to email me a product code) and now it works fine. it no longer has netflix on it but you can download the app to your main tile screen and use the remote to access it there (which i actually like better).
unfortunately my touchscreen is not working either. I've spent hours researching and talking to my IT people and it looks like we'll just have to wait for gateway to get on the ball and release a driver for us. Its is definitely not a windows 8 issue, its a gateway issue, so hopefully they get their act together soon!
I only saw 3 drivers for windows 8 which one did u use and I have the pro upgrade is the free media center only available for the pro pack version?

Do you know which synaptics driver needed. We can try run it in windows 7 compatibility and see what happen. Did that on my dell and it work
That didn't work. I have tried all the drivers plus extracting the exe files myself and nada. :(
