Windows 8 Touch Screen not working on my Gateway ZX6971

I have a Gateway ZX6971 all in one touch screen. I recently downloaded the windows 8 release preview  and i cant find anyway to get my touch screen capabilities working again. Is there a way to fix this problem? I tried reintalling the Card Reader Driver and try to open some touch programs in capability mode. Is there anything I can do to do my touch screen back? It worked fine in Windows 7. Any help or advice would be great! Thank you!

Hi ssackfield88,

This issue may be a display driver issue. I checked Gateway's website for available drivers for the ZX6971 and there are no Windows 8 drivers. Use the contact us link here to see when or if drivers will be available to support Windows 8 on your computer.

    This is AWESOME Thank you, thank you, thank you! I found "ideacom" under a higher model that upgraded to Windows 8 64bit. downloaded, ran setup, restarted and Voila', it Works!

    Hi every one. This solution applies for all the zx-4250 or higher models since have the same touch panel

    I purchased an used Gateway zx-4931-31e running windows 7.

    Since it is touchscreen i tough it would run nice on windows 8 for its touchscreen display.

    So i installed windows 8.1, tested the touchscreen. Nothing Happened, wasn't responsive so i checked the drivers and everything seemed ok.

    Then i found a lot of people with the same issue after upgrading to windows 8. Spent hours and hours looking for the right driver and nothing.....

    Well kept looking for more hours and hours and finally found out a compatible driver.

    So here is for you people.

    -----This link shows zx-4931 computer drivers, the touch driver is the same for all zx models 4250 or higher--- On the setup will say ACER. Acer and gateway are the same BTW

    Choose your version of windows 8 and download ideacom touch driver

    open the folder and run the setup, restart your pc and DONE!

    I have the zx 6961.  upgraded to 8.0 and now 8.1, touch screen will not work anymore.  When I called Gateway, they said it's out of warranty and they want $149.99 to have one of their geeks fix it!  Anyone got any solutions PLEASE?!?!?!?

    To get touch screen to work on gateway zx models try going to gateway.com and select zx 4971

    and operating system win7 upgrade to win 8.1 select IDEACOM 3.3.0.34. I have a zx4931 and It works great.
