"Restart to repair drive errors" keep showing up after reboot

Hi all,

I recently used the error checking tool on my internal hard drive on my laptop. It found errors and told me to reboot. Now everytime I boot my pc a message in the action center pops up saying "Restart to repair drive errors", and no matter how many times I try, it still tells me there are drive errors.

I can't seem to find any more details on the exact errors. I run Windows 8 Pro. Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction?

EDIT: Running Chkdsk from the command promt returns a similar error, albeit a little more wordy: "Chkdsk cannot run because the volume [the C: drive, the one that has errors -RF] in in use by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts?" Replying <y> and rebooting, gives the same errors: the action center still tells me to reboot, and Chkdsk returns the same message as before.

I also tried running sfc, just for good measure. The log created (CBS.log) shows several errors at the bottom, seemingly all pertaining to autochk.exe, in some way or another.

I wonder if this may have been caused by running drive optimization and stopping prematurely (in order to reboot for the error checking utility).

    Yeah man i finally fixed it!!!

    I got this error past week...

    So here we go in order to solve it!!!

    First of all try error checkingon each drive.

    In most cases windows will repair all the drives except the C: Drive(or OS drive).

    If windows is unable to repair other drives too and asks for Restart and repair now or Restart later and repair , just hit cancel and follow the instructions below for both OS drive and other drives

    1.Run CHKDSK command for each drive from command prompt.

             #open command prompt with admin rights.

             #perform CHKDSK , example CHKDSK X: /f ('X' represents drive letter)

    2.If the CHKDSK command says CHKDSK cannot run because the volume is in use by another

       process.Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system

       restarts? (Y/N)

    3.Hit Y

    4.Now open Run (Windows + R) type msconfig and hit enter

             #go to boot tab.

             #in the Boot options,click Safe boot and and then click Aletnative Shell in sub options

               (Alternative Shell means Safe mode with Command Prompt).

             #hit OK ,now it will ask for restart , now hit restart.

    5.Now when your computer reboots windows will automatically repair the drives you scheduled in   CHKDSK command in safe mode. After everything is done rollback everything you did it msconfig

    ( i.e uncheck Safe boot and hit ok ) and restart, now your computer will restart in normal mode. Again check Error checkingand scan drive even if there are no errors.

    Yes, I finally fixed the problem on my PC - I WENT BACK TO WINDOWS 7!

    Still running WIN 8 on my laptop after disabling the error reporting centre - no reprocussions!jmb

    hi everyone, sorry to barge in like this, first time poster here having the same issue and having no luck figuring out why. my kingston ssd now v3 also behaves this way on win8.1. the message center error also shows this repair thinggy. even if i boot with another drive with win7 and the ssd as slave the boot process always says it needs to scan  the ssd but doesnt really detects anything wrong with it after the scan. so im trying to look for other factors such as faulty USB ports and conflicts with USB devices such as phones and tablets (i have some) which triggers the "restart to repair drive error" flag, in some cases where i forgot to safely remove them from devices... wish there would be some light to this issue as windows itself denies us specific data on why it is showing such problems
