My Mom's Windows XP Computer is overall slow, freezing & locking up mostly all the time. I don't have the money right now to pay for Premium Support through Microsoft to get it fixed. Can anybody please help me get this issue resolved immediately! It's been like this for a while. I just want my mom's computer to run normally like any other computer would. Please! Let me know. I appreciate it. Thanks.

if it is not listed in add/remove programs, then you do not have it installed.
I tried to find the file for the Windows Search 4.0 a couple of days ago but I couldn't find the file.
That's ok. I uninstalled Norton. I ran the Norton Removal Tool. I installed MSE. I ran TDSSKiller. There were no threats found. I will make sure if Windows Search 4.0 is installed or not. I will check my mom's hard drive's transfer mode if it slipped from the faster DMA mode to the slower PIO mode. What is that?
