How do I mass delete junk mail in Hotmail on Windows 8?

How can I mass delete emails from my junk and deleted folder?  Takes too long to highlight and delete 7 or 8 at a time.

Hi atomikbomb,

Certainly, there is an option of delete all of these emails in the Junk and deleted folders. There are two ways of going about manually- which means, you have to perform yourself the steps below:

  1. After signing in to your account, go to each of this folder.
  2. On the top of these emails, tick the box before the word ALL.
  3. Click delete menu above Junk or Deleted folder.

Another way to do it manually is doing the following steps:

  1. Hover the mouse cursor over the folder.
  2. Right click and choose empty folder.

    hey this does work i just did it on windows 8 open folder and hold ctrl and press a this selects all now push ctrl d this deletes them to deleted folder now go to deleted folder and do the same and they are gone! :)

    Your answer is for Webmail, not for the Windows 8 Mail App.  

    To mass delete items in each folder from the Windows 8 Mail app, click on the first email, then do Ctrl+A and it will highlight all messages, then just click on the Trash Can Icon to delete them all.  If you are deleting from the Sent folder, Drafts folder or Junk folder, you will then have to repeat the process in the Deleted folder.

    I've read all the above posts, but none seem to apply to Win8 phone web app. I can't do a cntrl-a on the nokia phone, nor bring up a soft keyboard while the app is displaying the junk folder. I also don't understand why the sync does not work properly on the junk folder, as I have emptied the folder while running the webmail on my PC. I had expected the phone app to sync thereby removing all the junk.

    If this post is only for Win8 PC, then please direct me to proper location for my question. Thanks.

    When you sync, give it a few minutes to actually get the data from the web.  It's not something that happens instantaneously.  Unfortunately there is no way to do a Ctrl-A but if you tap on what looks like the Bullet List at the bottom of the screen, it will slide the messages over and you can tap each box individually.  Hope this helps.
