Custom hotkeys to change input language disappear frequently

I had the same problem in Windows 7, and it persists in Windows 8. This happened in three computers I had, including the current one.

I have configured three input languages, and I assign a hotkey (alt+shift+number) to each of them. However, after some time, the hotkeys are reset; sometimes it's just some of them, other times they all disappear. They often keep working, but there are a few times when I can't switch languages in any other than pressing shift+alt or by clicking.

This issue may also be related - Sometimes I can't change languages from IME to English or any other. For that, I have to switch between input methods in IME (with alt+`), and only after I do that I can use the hotkeys. Again, switching languages with shift+alt works, but the custom hotkeys don't.

Does anyone know the cause of the problems I described? Is there a way to fix it? Are there any plans from Microsoft to fix these bugs?

    I may need a few more information to understand the issue better.

    1. What is the make and model number of the computer?
    2. Do you get any error messages?

    Method 1:

    I would suggest you to refer the link and check if it helps.

    Method 2:

    If the issue persists you may update the driver \ software for keyboard from the manufacturer website and check if it helps.

    As usual with Microsoft Support responses, this one is completely useless and just asks the user to waste time providing irrelevant information.

    "What is the make and model number of the computer?" -- This is a completely irrelevant question. This is clearly a software issue, there are clearly hundreds of people affected by it...what are the chances they all use the same model of computer?

    Updating the keyboard driver? Also irrelevant...this is not a hardware issue and is not specific to one type of keyboard.

    However, the link is very useful. If you're using Win8 you can just press the start key and the space key simultaneously and that cycles through your languages. This isn't a great solution if you have a huge number of languages (5+) but I find it manageable with three languages.

    Exactly the same problem here.   Using a Dell XPS 2027 all-in-one.   I didn't notice the problem at first, but had to refresh my system and reinstall everything from scratch.   Since then the hot keys keep disappearing - sometimes a couple of them, other times all of them go.   Lots of people seem to be having the same difficulty and have done for some time (I upgraded from XP and it works fine, as does Windows 7 on my work laptop), so my question is has anyone found a solution yet that works?   Like the guys from Microsoft?   Don't see many useful postings here from them.

    I have repeatedly tried to set hot keys for: English, German, French, Mandarin.  All disappear, except for Mandarin - this agrees with several of the other replies, in that only IMEs seem to be able to keep their hot keys.  The choice of hot key has no effect.
