You've reached the right forum for your question. As I understand that you are not able to connect to the Internet using Wifi.

Method 1

I would suggest you to run Network troubleshooter.

a. In the start Menu Type “Identify and Repair Network Problem” and hit enter.

b. Follow the Onscreen instructions to complete the wizard.

No this did not work

This worked for me, however it didnt work in succession.  I had to go back and reboot between both commands, then I got my connection back through ethernet.  Also this disabled my wifi device and I had to go into device manager (command prompt: mmc devmgmt.msc) and enable the wifi radio.  Reboot one more time and all is well.

I tried this and it didn't work for me, to my demise :(.

This is the order I tried:

1. cmd.exe (as admin)
2. netsh winsock reset catalog
3. enter, restart
4. cmd.exe (as admin)
5. netsh int ip reset reset.log hit
6. enter, restart

And I'm still having the same problem everyone else was having on this thread. I also tried network diagnostics before doing this, that thing is and always has been worthless so no surprise in the fact it didn't fix anything.

I also tried it in this order:

Still didn't work. When I enter the commands it spits back the "succesfully..." and "ok!" which leads me to believe it took the cmd prompt and did what it was supposed to.

Do you guys have anything else that may work? This always happens for me after an update is applied. Last time it happened after an update, I did a system restore and fixed it. Once it did the update that I rolled back again, I have the same problem. "limited connection", "wifi doesn't have a valid ip" etc etc.

It's not the router, I'm writing this on another comp with the same network and wifi connection.

Please help asap, I do not want to have to restore my computer every three days.

Oh, also, I tried enabling the wifi radio as was suggested above after running the commands and restarting. Although, it said I did not have access to that application or the file may not exist...? My wifi was receiving the various wireless networks around me so I left this issue out of my concern. . . Maybe I'm wrong? . . . Can't be haha.

Same stil for me. Tried everything written above. Strangely the day after THE update and problems THE laptop works wel. I did not restart my AP. All my otter pc, laptops, mediacenter run well in my internet connection. So THE problem lies om the W8 laptop. I also shows it CAN work !
