wifi does not have a valid ip configuration windows 8

After upgrading to Windows 8 Final Version

it worked fine for 2 days then, WIFI stoped working.

every time I try to connect it gives me limited connection.

when I try trouble shout it give me the following message :" wifi does not have a valid ip configuration ".

even trying a cable connection, same message appear.

I somehow managed to get on my neighbor WIFI not sure how that happened, but I can only use internet on Desktop mode,

Metro interface have no access to wifi.

I would like to know if you can assist me with this issue?

I was having this problem too. Solved it by following the directions here:

This part in the first reply fixed the problem:

"With upgrades sometimes winsock or the TCP/IP stack gets corrupted. To reset them both type the following two commands into an elevated command prompt one at a timehitting enter after each one then reboot the system.

netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)

netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)"

    Hi, 

    for couple of days I had such this problem, (just when I trying my laptop to my home WiFi) but in other places like our office everything works properly,

    today I surf the net to solve this problem and finally it workes for me:

    1- on windows 8, from the search, type CMD, then right click on CMD icon and from options which will comes after right click, chose Run as administrator, when Cmd window appear, type netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txtthen press enter, after finishing the process, restart your system,

    as I saw on my search this works for many users. hope it works for you also.
