wifi does not have a valid ip configuration windows 8

After upgrading to Windows 8 Final Version

it worked fine for 2 days then, WIFI stoped working.

every time I try to connect it gives me limited connection.

when I try trouble shout it give me the following message :" wifi does not have a valid ip configuration ".

even trying a cable connection, same message appear.

I somehow managed to get on my neighbor WIFI not sure how that happened, but I can only use internet on Desktop mode,

Metro interface have no access to wifi.

I would like to know if you can assist me with this issue?

I was having this problem too. Solved it by following the directions here:

This part in the first reply fixed the problem:

"With upgrades sometimes winsock or the TCP/IP stack gets corrupted. To reset them both type the following two commands into an elevated command prompt one at a timehitting enter after each one then reboot the system.

netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)

netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)"

    When I had this issue it turned out there was a conflict between my Bluetooth driver and my wifi driver as odd as that sounds.

    Once my phone connected to my laptop via Bluetooth the wifi dropped and I got the same message "wifi does not have a valid IP..."

    I actually took my laptop back to the shop and got a new one at first until it happened again the day I swapped. Since, I've not connected my phone via Bluetooth and haven't had a problem on any Wifi networks including public.

    I am having success (so far) since I disabled all Intel drivers.  We'll see how long it lasts!  It's very frustrating.

    Ok any help if anyone is still reading this thread. Laptop works fine on other wireless networks. I have tried all the network shell commands listed (netsh). Uninstalled AVG, did a clean boot recommended by Microsoft. I uninstalled all the network adapters and let Windows add them back, flushed the DNS cache through ipconfig, released and renewed the IP and still the same.

    I have probably 10 plus other devices on the same router working fine including another Windows 8.1 computer, but a friend of my daughter brought over a laptop and it will not connect either via wireless or wired connection. Same issue as saying can't obtain a valid IP address.

    The IPv4 address is being automatically configured. I tried disabling that as well and no luck. Tried manually an IP address and DHCP address based on the settings from the router.

    Stuck on this one and I hate it. I am good with computers and work in IT, but this one has got me puzzled.

    One thing she did have installed is Hamachi for Minecraft which installs a virtual network adapter. I deleted that as well and still no luck, but don't know if there was something with that.

    Any ideas or advice other than throwing it out the window (no pun intended) or saying screw it?

    Once I did the above it still did not work...but...I restarted the wifi router (connected to my ip provider) after and my laptop then worked fine.
