wifi does not have a valid ip configuration windows 8

After upgrading to Windows 8 Final Version

it worked fine for 2 days then, WIFI stoped working.

every time I try to connect it gives me limited connection.

when I try trouble shout it give me the following message :" wifi does not have a valid ip configuration ".

even trying a cable connection, same message appear.

I somehow managed to get on my neighbor WIFI not sure how that happened, but I can only use internet on Desktop mode,

Metro interface have no access to wifi.

I would like to know if you can assist me with this issue?

I was having this problem too. Solved it by following the directions here:

This part in the first reply fixed the problem:

"With upgrades sometimes winsock or the TCP/IP stack gets corrupted. To reset them both type the following two commands into an elevated command prompt one at a timehitting enter after each one then reboot the system.

netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)

netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)"

    This procedure worked again.  Concern is that this is the second time this week I have had the same problem with my Toshiba laptop.  Checking to see if I need a driver update.  Has anyone else had this problem persist?

    Hi,

    I have a similar problem. My company network is behind a firewall and my only access to Internet is through a proxy server and it works fine.

    However the exclamation mark on wifi is still appear and it really bothers me. Any help?

    You've reached the right forum for your question. As I understand that you are not able to connect to the Internet using Wifi.

    Method 1

    I would suggest you to run Network troubleshooter.

    a. In the start Menu Type “Identify and Repair Network Problem” and hit enter.

    b. Follow the Onscreen instructions to complete the wizard.

    I had a similar problem, but it was not related to any specific version of Microsoft's operating system; instead, it was caused by reseting the router. The default setting on my router (Linksys E3200) only allows 10 concurrent (wireless I think) connections, and when I restored the factory settings by resetting the router, the number of connections was set back to 10. After logging into the router and increasing that number (to 100 in my case) and saving those settings, I was able to get all my wireless devices to connect without any problems. Hope this helps someone.
