wifi does not have a valid ip configuration windows 8

After upgrading to Windows 8 Final Version

it worked fine for 2 days then, WIFI stoped working.

every time I try to connect it gives me limited connection.

when I try trouble shout it give me the following message :" wifi does not have a valid ip configuration ".

even trying a cable connection, same message appear.

I somehow managed to get on my neighbor WIFI not sure how that happened, but I can only use internet on Desktop mode,

Metro interface have no access to wifi.

I would like to know if you can assist me with this issue?

I was having this problem too. Solved it by following the directions here:

This part in the first reply fixed the problem:

"With upgrades sometimes winsock or the TCP/IP stack gets corrupted. To reset them both type the following two commands into an elevated command prompt one at a timehitting enter after each one then reboot the system.

netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)

netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)"

    I faced this problem yesterday when i uninstalled Bitdefender Antivirus 2015.. is it because of the uninstallation? and does sytem restore solves this problem..?

    The command prompt is telling me I need elevation and to run as administrator, but I am the admin. How'd you get around that?

    If you are typing cmd in the search box, when cmd.exe appears above it, right-click and select Run as Administrator.

    If you are getting the command prompt from the menu: Start > All Programs > Accessories.  Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.

    This procedure worked again.  Concern is that this is the second time this week I have had the same problem with my Toshiba laptop.  Checking to see if I need a driver update.  Has anyone else had this problem persist?

    I have this problem 3 or 4 times a week on my Toshiba laptop.  Sometimes the Network Troubleshooter will fix it and sometimes I have to do the netsh commands.  I take my laptop from client to client and connect to different wireless access points without a problem.  It only happens when I return to my office, like it's having problems getting a new IP address from my wireless access point.
