wifi does not have a valid ip configuration windows 8

After upgrading to Windows 8 Final Version

it worked fine for 2 days then, WIFI stoped working.

every time I try to connect it gives me limited connection.

when I try trouble shout it give me the following message :" wifi does not have a valid ip configuration ".

even trying a cable connection, same message appear.

I somehow managed to get on my neighbor WIFI not sure how that happened, but I can only use internet on Desktop mode,

Metro interface have no access to wifi.

I would like to know if you can assist me with this issue?

I was having this problem too. Solved it by following the directions here:

This part in the first reply fixed the problem:

"With upgrades sometimes winsock or the TCP/IP stack gets corrupted. To reset them both type the following two commands into an elevated command prompt one at a timehitting enter after each one then reboot the system.

netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)

netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)"

    I have the same issue! I was running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit on my DELL, Wi-Fi & LAN worked just fine. Then when windows 8 came out i upgraded and it worked fine. Then i had to do a system update and when it rebooted it has the same problem, just says "Identifying"

    I updated my laptop to W8 two days ago. During the update everything worked fine, after installing the first updates the laptop does connects to the wifi network. Valid IP, but a yellow exclamation mark is shown on the wifi connection saying no internet acces.

    Sometimes the internet connection comes up and after a few seconds it goes down. Currently i got an internet connection but when i rebooted i fear not so. The trouble shooter doesn't fix the problem, i updated the drivers, rebooted my router but no real solution.  Previously my laptop ran W7 and no problems occured. What is the real solution for this issue ?

    You've reached the right forum for your question. As I understand that you are not able to connect to the Internet using Wifi.

    Method 1

    I would suggest you to run Network troubleshooter.

    a. In the start Menu Type “Identify and Repair Network Problem” and hit enter.

    b. Follow the Onscreen instructions to complete the wizard.
