I was having this problem too. Solved it by following the directions here:

http://www.eightforums.com/network-sharing/11811-windows-8-wifi-help.html

This part in the first reply fixed the problem:

"With upgrades sometimes winsock or the TCP/IP stack gets corrupted. To reset them both type the following two commands into an elevated command prompt one at a timehitting enter after each one then reboot the system.

netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)

netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)"

Hope this helps someone else.

Cheers.

My daughters Laptop came up with this after downgrading back to windows 8.1, because after upgrading to windows 10 she had a lot of problems. Now cannot get onto internet to fix it. Will probably have to take it to a repairer to have it fixed. Now when I get rid of your win.10 of this set. it will probably do the same with me. Its enough to make me want an Apple.

This is exactly what happened to me.. Have you found any way around this, besides reloading Windows..? I don't really wanna go thru a total backup, reset and restore

I could reset the catalog, but failed to reset tcp/ip stack.. Cmd says all ok, but then "resetting failed", then "access is denied".. Then again "resetting , ok!" ..

my connection is still not restored and I have done this thrice and as prescribed

any help would be much appreciated.. Thanks
