wifi does not have a valid ip configuration windows 8

After upgrading to Windows 8 Final Version

it worked fine for 2 days then, WIFI stoped working.

every time I try to connect it gives me limited connection.

when I try trouble shout it give me the following message :" wifi does not have a valid ip configuration ".

even trying a cable connection, same message appear.

I somehow managed to get on my neighbor WIFI not sure how that happened, but I can only use internet on Desktop mode,

Metro interface have no access to wifi.

I would like to know if you can assist me with this issue?

I was having this problem too. Solved it by following the directions here:

This part in the first reply fixed the problem:

"With upgrades sometimes winsock or the TCP/IP stack gets corrupted. To reset them both type the following two commands into an elevated command prompt one at a timehitting enter after each one then reboot the system.

netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)

netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)"

    I have the exact same problem, appearing aswell after the update. Nothing above working for me either.

    2 months later and still no solution it looks like.

    I have tried all of the above and resetting the adapter

    My particular problem is associated with Intel Wi USB (USB-IF xHCI USB Host Controller driver issue. It seems the Windows update has made that inoperable. uninstalling and reinstalling has not solved the problem either. Additionally there is no older version of this that I can find to roll back the driver.

    On one of the resets in the Netsh int ip reset, it states that it has failed, 4th reset only states " . failed. " will try other websites for more solutions and check back here periodically i guess

    I tried everything. Even made a support call at MS. The answer was a driver issue which should be resolved with Acer. Strange sometimes it WORKS ! So driver is good... Calling Acer resulted in the diagnose: restore W7 upgrade again. Still doesn't work then send in the laptop. Yeah right.... If that will do !!
