wifi does not have a valid ip configuration windows 8

After upgrading to Windows 8 Final Version

it worked fine for 2 days then, WIFI stoped working.

every time I try to connect it gives me limited connection.

when I try trouble shout it give me the following message :" wifi does not have a valid ip configuration ".

even trying a cable connection, same message appear.

I somehow managed to get on my neighbor WIFI not sure how that happened, but I can only use internet on Desktop mode,

Metro interface have no access to wifi.

I would like to know if you can assist me with this issue?

I was having this problem too. Solved it by following the directions here:

This part in the first reply fixed the problem:

"With upgrades sometimes winsock or the TCP/IP stack gets corrupted. To reset them both type the following two commands into an elevated command prompt one at a timehitting enter after each one then reboot the system.

netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)

netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)"

    I get the same error message.  the problem started when I decided to uninstall Windows 8.1 and go back to Windows 8.0 because I hated 8.1.  Now my wireless kicks off all the time and I get the error message about the host.  Did you find a solution to it?  Also this seems to kick my printer offline all the time.

    This is happening to me too. I am not computer "grammer" saavy and have no idea what an elevated command prompt is? Could you please speak in a language that I can understand? I would really appreciate it,.. this is driving me wired,.. my computer keeps zoning out.

    I struggled with this for months.  I just fixed it today by disabling the Windows 8 Firewall.

    I don't need it anyway since I have Norton Internet Security.

    Works fine now.  YAY!
