Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 Wireless Network Adapter adapter is not working.

 

I have Acer V3-571 laptop.

I upgraded to windows 8 from windows 7.

Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 Wireless Network Adapter adapter is showing working fine in the device manager ,but wifi is not working.

when I checked the on off soft switch in the Pc setting ,the swith found in disable position.Could anybody assist to solve it?

From my experience I can say:

Change this AR5BWB222 Atheros wireless adapter is not compatible with Windows 8.

I replaced my wireless adapter with Atheros AR5B225. My notebook does not have more problems.

Thanks for your help Pieter.  I've been running into problems after uninstalling the driver.  I go to Device Manager, uninstall, press "scan for hardware changes" and then the wireless card appears again but right then, the Qualcomm adapter installs itself automatically within a second and it's impossible for me to change it.  Rather, as soon as the device is recognized, the Qualcomm adapter is installed.  Not sure why this is happening or how to stop it.

Also, when you say "manually uninstalled the network card's drivers", do you mean without using the "uninstall" option via the Device Manager?  If so, could you please explain how to manually uninstall the drivers?

Yes I mean in Device Manager - using the uninstall option. Select ur wireless card under Network adapters tree (Atheros AR5B.......) Right click and select " UNINSTALL". After this give the computer a several secs to refresh or press - Action - Scan for Hardware Changes. After this select again ur wireless card under the Network adapters tree. Right click - Update Software - Browse my computer for driver software - (Locate the Zip file that downloaded), make sure " Include Subfolders" are checked (Just for in-case), and Hit next.. That should do it.

On 5/20/2013, I have tried to download "win78-10.0.0.75-whql" several times from the link you provided.  I've also tried to download "win7-10.0.0.234-whql" as well as "win7-10.0.0221-whql" several times and each time when I try to open the file, I get a "file is invalid" error message.  When I right click on the file to extract it, I get an error message that says "the compressed folder is empty.  you must first add files to the compressed folder".  Is this likely a problem with Atheros's website or my computer?  Has anyone else had this kind of trouble?  If anyone else could provide a functioning link to the necessary drivers, I'd really appreciate it.

Ive followed the link and downloaded the file/s, all seems to be fine and in the zipped file. Try maybe to reinstall the winRar, or try 7Zip program.
