Code 80080005 Error on windows update with windows 7 home premimum

I am trying to update my Windows 7 home premium but i have been unable to do so and every time code 80080005 appears . I want to know how can i resolve this problem.

I am trying to update my Windows 7 home premium but i have been unable to do so and every time code 80080005 appears . I want to know how can i resolve this problem. 

Check your date, time and timezone.

Check for malware:

Download, install, run, update and perform full system scans with the following two applications:

Removing everything they find. Rebooting when needed. (You can uninstall one or both when done.)

Then perform an online scan with the eSet Online Scanner. Remove whatever is found.

Reboot.

Get the System Update Readiness Tool (save it) and right-click on it and "Run as Administrator". Choose the right one for you:

Let it run/fix things.

Reboot.

Try updating.

If it is still failing, attempt this next:

Reset your Windows Update Components with this FixIt:How do I reset Windows Update components?

Reboot.

Try updating.

If it still fails, try this...

  1. Start an elevated command prompt.
  2. Run the following commands hitting enter after each line:

net stop wuauserv cd %systemroot% ren SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old net start wuauserv 3. Reboot 4. Try updating.

**Important** The following issues occur when you do this:

  • Updates that are currently downloaded but that have not yet been installed have to be downloaded again by using Windows Update or Microsoft Update.
  • When you delete the Software Distribution folder, your download history is removed.
  • If you currently receive updates from Microsoft Update and from Windows Update, you will have to re-select this option from the Windows Update Web site.

**Note** If the issue is resolved and you can successfully download and install updates, you can safely delete the SoftwareDistribution.old directory to recover disk space.

Reboot.

Register the WU components:

  1. Start an elevated command prompt.
  2. Run the following commands hitting enter after each line:

regsvr32 Jscript.dll regsvr32 wuapi.dllregsvr32 wuaueng.dll

Reboot.

Try updating.

If it still fails after that - repeat this part ONCE more...

Reset your Windows Update Components with this FixIt:How do I reset Windows Update components?

Reboot.

Try updating.

    Hello.  Same problem.  Same OS.  I was unable to fix my Windows Update issue 80080005 using the above method.  Any other advice?

    ETA:  Don't know if this matters but every time I rebooted it would say "Windows Update Failed - Reverting to previous something."

    Look at our update history and figure out what specific update(s) are failing and list them here.

    I've gone through all the steps down to regsvr32 wuapi.dllregsvr32 wuaueng.dll and the adminstrative cmd window fails. " ... loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070005" stuck.

    I have the same problem.

    I have done everything according to the instructions but without success.

    I thing that every thing started after installation of KB2676562 and KB2724197 plus one more update(all 3 of them have been shown as 14 KB each) on 14.12.2012
