Code 80080005 Error on windows update with windows 7 home premimum

I am trying to update my Windows 7 home premium but i have been unable to do so and every time code 80080005 appears . I want to know how can i resolve this problem.

I am trying to update my Windows 7 home premium but i have been unable to do so and every time code 80080005 appears . I want to know how can i resolve this problem. 

Check your date, time and timezone.

Check for malware:

Download, install, run, update and perform full system scans with the following two applications:

Removing everything they find. Rebooting when needed. (You can uninstall one or both when done.)

Then perform an online scan with the eSet Online Scanner. Remove whatever is found.

Reboot.

Get the System Update Readiness Tool (save it) and right-click on it and "Run as Administrator". Choose the right one for you:

Let it run/fix things.

Reboot.

Try updating.

If it is still failing, attempt this next:

Reset your Windows Update Components with this FixIt:How do I reset Windows Update components?

Reboot.

Try updating.

If it still fails, try this...

  1. Start an elevated command prompt.
  2. Run the following commands hitting enter after each line:

net stop wuauserv cd %systemroot% ren SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old net start wuauserv 3. Reboot 4. Try updating.

**Important** The following issues occur when you do this:

  • Updates that are currently downloaded but that have not yet been installed have to be downloaded again by using Windows Update or Microsoft Update.
  • When you delete the Software Distribution folder, your download history is removed.
  • If you currently receive updates from Microsoft Update and from Windows Update, you will have to re-select this option from the Windows Update Web site.

**Note** If the issue is resolved and you can successfully download and install updates, you can safely delete the SoftwareDistribution.old directory to recover disk space.

Reboot.

Register the WU components:

  1. Start an elevated command prompt.
  2. Run the following commands hitting enter after each line:

regsvr32 Jscript.dll regsvr32 wuapi.dllregsvr32 wuaueng.dll

Reboot.

Try updating.

If it still fails after that - repeat this part ONCE more...

Reset your Windows Update Components with this FixIt:How do I reset Windows Update components?

Reboot.

Try updating.

    That would be amusing, given the context of the problem, if it had not been such a painfully frustrating exercise to get absolutely nowhere with this. The automatic windows updates no longer function, and also a continual 1935 error with assembly components on MSI, so cannot update windows, cannot install anything

    How exactly do you suggest I further pursue your concept of a "well maintained Windows machine" having tried fixes from every thread I can find, none of which have worked, apart from reinstalling the OS? ...and if you think my problems are unusual in any way, just search for "windows updates not working" or "installer error 1935". As I said, a litany of misery

    Just because you find a lot of problems in a peer-to-peer support forum and not a lot of, "Hey - my computer is working perfectly!  Just wanted to let you know!" doesn't indicate to me your problem is not something fairly unique.  ;-)  I have never walked into a hospital and was shocked that there weren't more perfectly healthy people in the rooms.

    All I can do is try to help - and that is all I have done.  You didn't answer the last question I asked.

    Hello,

    o.k. I tried to search which KB does not work. But when I go through the steps I am not able to see any update history which makes it for me hard to find out which KB installation causes this update error.

    What makes me a little wonder is the trusted installer is causing errors with some bucket error attached to it. My guess it is related to the update error. So I put it in as an additonal informaiton, maybe it relates to a known problem and a known solution.

    My next step would be to run a system repair via the Win 7 DVD. I hope it somehow solves the problem.

    Is there any way to find out which KB causes this problem and where I can find it? Maybe we can take it from there and see what might be a possible solution for this problem.

    Just to contribute to the litany of misery above, I too have gone through all the recommended fixes and still have the 80080005 updater error....do macs have similar problems, I wonder?

    Yes.  Go ahead and buy one and find out if you like.  They cost a bit more, depending on what you use the system for you may run into some issues where you have to find new ways to do things.  Overall - they work great - just like a well maintained Windows machine.

    What *specific* updates are you trying to install?
