I have Windows Phone 7 (HTC HD), recently I experience problems with syncing my gmail and hotmail accounts (recieving error code: 80072EFD) and Facebook (recieving error code: 83CF0108) when using mobile internet. More over I can't open gmail.com in a browser as well. When I use Wi-Fi everything is ok. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi gedzius,

When you are using wifi everything is fine, right?

Please verify that on your Windows Phone, all configuration is okay:

  • Settings -> Mobile Network -> Data Connection is on "On"
  • Settings -> Mobile Network -> 3G connection is on "On"

Thanks, Tristan

This happened to me.  Somehow the 3G had dropped off the phone. The answer was to do a hard reset. This was a problem because that meant all my customization had to be redone.  On the up side, since I reset it, it's been working very well.

Almost the same problem here, same phone, OS, etc.

When connected to wifi the phone will sync with Exchange no problems.  As soon as wifi is out of range or disabled the Outlook account won't even try to connect, indicating the typical 80072EFD or 80072EED errors.

No combination of data off, wifi off, reboots, etc, etc solves this.  Come on Microsoft, this behavior only came with 7.5 and I see months of users reporting the same issue.

"Where are all the WM experts?"

Apparently busy with cosmetic updates that do little to restore functionality that existed in previous OS versions (heck, even the beta & dev previews worked better than RTM.  ie: camera saved settings, exchange, self-signed certificates, etc.).
