Windows Live Photo Gallery-error when trying to view pictures on SD card: 0x80010108

I have a brand new Windows 7 computer with Windows Home Premium 64 bit operating system. The computer has a built in card reader. When I insert a 2 GB SD memory card into the card reader I see an autoplay screen with various options. If I select "View Pictures Using Windows Live Photo Gallery", I get the following message: "An error is preventing the photo or video from being displayed. Error Code 0x080010108" How do I resolve this?

By the way, if I select " Import Pictures and Videos Using Windows Live Photo Gallery", everything works fine.

This is the textbook way to import from a card, follow them exactly, oddly it's the way you say it works, lol :-)

Make sure that your digital camera or memory card reader is turned on and connected to your computer, or that the disc is inserted into your computer's CD or DVD drive.
Open Windows Live Photo Gallery by clicking theStart button. In the search box, type Photo Gallery, and then, in the list of results, clickWindows Live Photo Gallery.
Click theHome tab, and then click Import photos.
In theImport Photos and Videos dialog box, click the device that you want to use, and then clickImport. If you're importing from a CD or DVD, select the CD or DVD drive.
ClickImport.
ClickMore options to select the options that you want to use, such as where to save the files and what format to use for the folder and file names.
Select eitherReview, organize and group items to import or Import all new items now.
For all of the late comers to this thread microsoft released the codec pack that fixes this issue it is included at the download center here,

First of all change your windows update setting, to ask you before it downloads and installs windows updates, this will ensure windows live essentials 2011 doesn't reload,

Then uninstall windows live essentials 2011 with this links instructions,

I still can't get this to work. It worked just fine before the March 30 or 31 Windows 7 update. So, it's not something I did....Please help. I did everything everybody suggested and nothing has worked. I'm using a direct link from my camera - FujiFinePix as I have for years!

Repeat the uninstall process listed above,

Download and have have it (install only photo gallery and movie maker)

List what antivirus you have installed, if it's AVG uninstall it as well.

This just didn't work for me. I've uninstalled, re-installed - even bought a new camera battery and changed USB cables. Every once in a while it works for me...Most of the time, I get the error. This only started after the 3/29/2011 updated from Microsoft Update. Before that, I used this daily since I got the computer in November, 2010!
