Windows Live Photo Gallery-error when trying to view pictures on SD card: 0x80010108

I have a brand new Windows 7 computer with Windows Home Premium 64 bit operating system. The computer has a built in card reader. When I insert a 2 GB SD memory card into the card reader I see an autoplay screen with various options. If I select "View Pictures Using Windows Live Photo Gallery", I get the following message: "An error is preventing the photo or video from being displayed. Error Code 0x080010108" How do I resolve this?

By the way, if I select " Import Pictures and Videos Using Windows Live Photo Gallery", everything works fine.

This is the textbook way to import from a card, follow them exactly, oddly it's the way you say it works, lol :-)

Make sure that your digital camera or memory card reader is turned on and connected to your computer, or that the disc is inserted into your computer's CD or DVD drive.
Open Windows Live Photo Gallery by clicking theStart button. In the search box, type Photo Gallery, and then, in the list of results, clickWindows Live Photo Gallery.
Click theHome tab, and then click Import photos.
In theImport Photos and Videos dialog box, click the device that you want to use, and then clickImport. If you're importing from a CD or DVD, select the CD or DVD drive.
ClickImport.
ClickMore options to select the options that you want to use, such as where to save the files and what format to use for the folder and file names.
Select eitherReview, organize and group items to import or Import all new items now.
For all of the late comers to this thread microsoft released the codec pack that fixes this issue it is included at the download center here,

This just didn't work for me. I've uninstalled, re-installed - even bought a new camera battery and changed USB cables. Every once in a while it works for me...Most of the time, I get the error. This only started after the 3/29/2011 updated from Microsoft Update. Before that, I used this daily since I got the computer in November, 2010!

Click the start button, and type in the explorer box change autoplay for devices and media, and hit enter or click the suggestions link at the top,

Change all of the autoplay setting to ask me every time if they are not, check the box at the top of the page to use these autoplay settings, save and close.

Boot your computer,

Click the start button and click on default programs from the list, and then click on set your default programs, look for windows photo viewer, click it from the list for say what is on that list, as options.

Use the fragment uninstaller listed at the bottom of the page of this link, this is what train55 would not do.

I did what you told me about going to devices and printers,but to no avail.The error code came up,and it never showed another device on the page.Mine shows 7 devices and 3 printers or faxes,and with the sd card installed,nothing changes so there is nothing to click on right or left.What do you suggest now?
