Windows Live Photo Gallery-error when trying to view pictures on SD card: 0x80010108

I have a brand new Windows 7 computer with Windows Home Premium 64 bit operating system. The computer has a built in card reader. When I insert a 2 GB SD memory card into the card reader I see an autoplay screen with various options. If I select "View Pictures Using Windows Live Photo Gallery", I get the following message: "An error is preventing the photo or video from being displayed. Error Code 0x080010108" How do I resolve this?

By the way, if I select " Import Pictures and Videos Using Windows Live Photo Gallery", everything works fine.

This is the textbook way to import from a card, follow them exactly, oddly it's the way you say it works, lol :-)

Make sure that your digital camera or memory card reader is turned on and connected to your computer, or that the disc is inserted into your computer's CD or DVD drive.
Open Windows Live Photo Gallery by clicking theStart button. In the search box, type Photo Gallery, and then, in the list of results, clickWindows Live Photo Gallery.
Click theHome tab, and then click Import photos.
In theImport Photos and Videos dialog box, click the device that you want to use, and then clickImport. If you're importing from a CD or DVD, select the CD or DVD drive.
ClickImport.
ClickMore options to select the options that you want to use, such as where to save the files and what format to use for the folder and file names.
Select eitherReview, organize and group items to import or Import all new items now.

Thanks for your suggestions but what I really want to know is how to eliminate error code 0x80010108 and use WLPG. I have found a number of "work arounds" that enable me to view and or load pictures so I can make things work. But how do I fix the error code?

Change your autoplay settings default, to windows explorer then boot your computer, try to use the cameras software and upload from the camera.

Don't use wlpg it may end up erasing your card.

Have you ever opened and used wlpg ?

Was any program selected as default before your changed it ?

The best thing you can do is uninstall windows live from your control panels uninstall a program.

I selected "View Pictures Using Windows Live Photo Gallery' as the new default program in auto play and this did not solve the problem. I still get error code 0x80010108

I think you answered your own question just from where it does work,

One piece of advise, uncheck the import setting to delete photos from card or camera after importing, in case one day it stops working, and your photos get erased and not imported.

Windows live has changed your autoplay settings, to change them back type change autoplay settings in the explorer box and look for importing and set a new default program from the drop down list.
