How about MS actually FIX this? I have a ton of machines that no longer update--- GD struggle.

Microsoft wants you and me on Windows 10. That is it. Unfortunately, this update problem also prevents that in many cases, so you could say they've shot themselves in the foot. I did fix this with advice from another thread, though, although it does require actually moving to W10. I had a brand new laptop with W7. It would not update, and after trying several fixes, I was ready to just return the computer to the dealer. Finally, I did the offline upgrade option. Download the W10 upgrade to a flash drive and run the upgrade from it. Important: Do not say yes to updates during the upgrade, and be sure the computer is disconnected from the Internet. Once the upgrade is complete, you can reconnect to the Internet, and Windows 10 updates will start automatically. Yes, you are on Windows 10, not W7, but at least the computer is working and updating.

Problem solved.

It was my internet connection!! I logged onto my neighbors via wireless unsecured (ssh... don't tell lol), and within 30 seconds, 77 updates came through!

It has to be something in my network.
