Hi sflorentino. Thanks for this update. If i look at the file dates of this kb, 20 oct 2015, this is a very recent solution provided by MIcrosoft. Didn't test it myself yet (will do in a next re-install of win7 and then upgrade to win10 circus) but good to read that there is finally a official kb / solution to this problem.

Windows update interface is unattached to IE. So this doesn't make sense! In 15 years of systems administrator i applied a lot of solutions that in first seemed not not make any sense, but it did.. This is one of them. But if you read my reply well, in a way it COULD make sense: Installing IE 11 TRIGGERS windows update, because IE 11 install starts FORCING downloading some updates needed for a succesfull install of IE 11. Problem solved.

It was my internet connection!! I logged onto my neighbors via wireless unsecured (ssh... don't tell lol), and within 30 seconds, 77 updates came through!

It has to be something in my network.

Windows update interface is unattached to IE. So this doesn't make sense!

In 15 years of systems administrator i applied a lot of solutions that in first seemed not not make any sense, but it did.. This is one of them. But if you read my reply well, in a way it COULD make sense: Installing IE 11 TRIGGERS windows update, because IE 11 install starts FORCING downloading some updates needed for a succesfull install of IE 11.
