Good call with this article!  I too had the same error with my Samsung Focus but I figured out that for some reason my route was not able to identify a device name, only the MAC address.  (possibly a bug in WP7)  Apparently Zune does not like this because as soon as I used a static IP address for my phone's MAC address and gave it the name of my phone as recognized by Zune, it worked!

Cheers!

Hi TrevorScarlett

Are you still receiving the same error message?

Have you tried to configure the device manually?

There’re some important recommendations that you must be aware:

Make sure that the access point or the router to which you connect is a DHCP server (make sure that DHCP is turned on).

Try to reserve an IP address for the Zune device on the router.

If you are using two routers, make sure that the router to which you try to connect is the DHCP server.

Just solved this with my Nokia Lumia 900. I was having the exact same error code C00D07C9

I went through the official microsoft solution, and the solutions listed here (disabled firewall etc) and could not get an "advanced setup" option in my zune setup either.

I went into my router settings, looking to disable its internal firewall, and noticed the ROUTER was still set to the default date and time.. 9/9/2009..

Updated to current date and time, and timezone, and VOILA! it worked! (with my firewall enabled)

It seems to me that most of these issues are related to router issues, i would make sure you have everything correct in your router before cursing microsoft... :D

Both phones use their default names ("Jeff's Phone" and "Paula's Phone"). She and I are both on the same Zune version and phone OS version, and both phones (and my notebook) use the same WAP. Until my recent upgrade to Win 8 on my computer, we were both on the same Windows version as well. Our computers are managed domain members (I'm an IT consultant) so there's a high degree of uniformity across our various computers. Hers syncs and always has. Mine used to, but doesn't any more.

There is ample precedent for later fixes addressing problems with earlier fixes on all OS's, including Microsoft's. Not to say it's absolutely going to happen, here. But if the problem is due to a cause that has been identified, and the problem is widespread enough, the possibility certainly exists that they will push a fix in 7.8. MS's telemetry is certainly telling them there are lots of C00D07C9 sync errors out there.

Failing that, every once in a while, you get lucky, and whatever the problem was gets overwritten or re-initialized during an update for some unrelated reason, and you get a second chance for failure or (hopefully) success using the same bits.

To me, then, it's very much worth the wait for WP7.8 to avoid a hard reset on a device whose contract is a few months away from expiry, since wireless sync is a big plus, but not essential to use of the device.

I got both nokia 800  and nokia 610 on wireless sync the 800 took ages and i forgot what i changed to get it on. I upped to win 8 on the pc and cannot wireless sync the 800 but the 610 just went straight on ????
