Good call with this article!  I too had the same error with my Samsung Focus but I figured out that for some reason my route was not able to identify a device name, only the MAC address.  (possibly a bug in WP7)  Apparently Zune does not like this because as soon as I used a static IP address for my phone's MAC address and gave it the name of my phone as recognized by Zune, it worked!

Cheers!

Hi TrevorScarlett

Are you still receiving the same error message?

Have you tried to configure the device manually?

There’re some important recommendations that you must be aware:

Make sure that the access point or the router to which you connect is a DHCP server (make sure that DHCP is turned on).

Try to reserve an IP address for the Zune device on the router.

If you are using two routers, make sure that the router to which you try to connect is the DHCP server.

It's directly beneath the XXXX (SSID)

if you don't see it there, there must be some difference for phones that they haven't (yet?) included in the article Benedito posted...

In any event, the advanced settings only set the network type, which if you can see the network shouldn't matter for setting up sync.

Mike, could you please tell me what should read in the white clickable text.

I've typed here all the text I can see. After clicking Set Up Wireless Sync I see the following:

Windows Phone (graphic in white letters, non clickable)

CONFIRM NETWORK (Big letters, not clickable)

Your phone is connected to: (white text, non clickable)

XXXX (SSID) (blue text, boldface, non clickable)

Button: REFRESH (dark gray letters over light grey, clickable, it refreshes my ssid, but does not do any more)

This will be the default network for wireless sync between this computer and this phone. (white text, non clickable)

To use a different network, connect to a different network using the phone and click Refresh above (white text, non clickable)

Button: NEXT (dark gray letters over light grey, clickable, it takes me to the mentioned error, repeated ahead)

Button: CANCEL (dark gray letters over light grey, clickable, it cancels)

Upon clicking NEXT i get to a new screen that says:

Windows Phone (graphic in white letters, non clickable)

CAN'T DETECT YOUR PHONE (Big letters, not clickable)

An error has occurred (white text, non clickable)

Zune was unable to connect to the wireless network access point. (white text, non clickable)

To see if there's more information about this error, click (white text, non clickable)

Web Help. (red text, clickable, opens a web browser with a page that mentions the Advanced options button which does not exist)

ERROR CODE (blue text, non clickable)

    C00D07C9 (white text, non clickable)

Button: TRY AGAIN (dark gray letters over light grey, clickable, goes to this same screen)

Button: CANCEL (dark gray letters over light grey, clickable, it cancels)
