Windows Update Failure Error Code 9C48 Unable to Fix.

This update has failed over 140 times since early this year.  I have tried everything and I am using IE 11.

I get error code 9C48 each time.

Ran the "Fix" program and that did not solve the problem.   Cleaned the registry several times using Regcur, and run virus (Panda) and malware (PC MRI) software, all report everything is OK.  PC is running slow I think but that could be my wireless router which is about 4 years old.

All other updates I try to install were successful.  I use automatic update for Windows.

I feel uncomfortable deleting IE for fear I will not be able to get back on the internet to install what ever I need to install after doing that.

Does Microsoft have a program I can run to directly address this problem?

I have received this error beginning 12/02/13 thru present.

Also I continue to receive pop up message stating "internet explorer has stopped working", followed by "this web page caused this program to shut down"

Please advise.

I have same problem. Uninstalled IE9 but cant load any other IE. Also now some screenf of mine are blank so skype does not work and a lot more programs which must be using drivers of IE now are a blank white screen.

Upgrade to IE 10 also does not load.

I eventually managed to install IE 9 correctly.

First of all I ran SFC /Scannow to clean up system files  (this process will inspect all of the important Windows files on your computer, including Windows DLL Files. If System File Checker finds an issue with any of these protected files, it will replace it.)

This process replaced a whole load of files and I was then able to install IE 9 and it does now work correctly.

I had run this process initially to resolve another issue - windows installer service could not be accessed.

I'm frustrated with issues that keep coming up with Windows 7.  I've had numerous issues to contend with for example:

1. iTunes will not load at times
2. Excel hangs
3. Windows Explorer hangs
4. iTunes Updates won't run - windows installer service issue!
5. I reboot every couple of days to 'clean up' my system as it slows down or starts to hang.
6. And don't ask me about syncing Outlook contacts with my iPhone...

I've got a new PC (6 months old) with 6Gb of RAM, Intel I5, 3.2 Ghz.

Perhaps I run too much on it and expect too much but I spend at least 4 hours every month going through a series of fixes / clean ups.

Anyway, rant over, IE 9 now works and hopefully this will help others.

SFC /scannow fixed this issue for me. I know the post is old, but still helpful and relevant.
