Windows Update Failure Error Code 9C48 Unable to Fix.

I've cleaned the registry, retried update, rebooted, and still no luck. Any clue as to what this error code refers to ? My current version of IE is now dysfunctional too!

OK here is a solution (that worked for me):

a. Install IE9 from: http://internet-explorer.uk.msn.com/

b. Reboot

c. Uninstall IE9 (From: Control Pannel > Programs > Programs and Features > Installed Updates > Windows Internet Explorer 9)

d. Reboot

e. Run windows update and install IE9 (Now it will work).

f. Reboot.

    Exactly same problem 4 me. V Ultimate, now lost all IE versions following Windows Update..

    Come on Microsoft, surely you can fix a corrupted install in 2011? I develop websites and "unfortunately" have to use IE6 to IE9 in my Job. I can see why some businesses and schools here in Australia still use IE6, as it’s so problematic to update IE. I challenge your team to fix this issue without a re-install of Windows 7.

    Hmmm... Same problem.

    Windows 7 latest and greates update arrived today (11/Apr/2011).

    Latitude E6400

    Another good reason to stay with Firefox & Chrome...

    Another Microsoft problem... as if we are back to the Windows 95... Need to pray before each upgrade.

    1. Which update are you trying to install? IE 9 update (had previously already installed this version)
    2. Are you trying to upgrade to Internet Explorer 9? Yes
    3. Did you try to download and install IE 9 manually? Yes (using Google Chrome to access the internet to get download file). Upon install attempt it says it won't install because are more recent version is already installed. Current IE on computer is INOPERABLE.
    4. Does the error occur when you try to install any update? No, all other updates have worked properly.
