Windows Update Failure Error Code 9C48 Unable to Fix.

I've cleaned the registry, retried update, rebooted, and still no luck. Any clue as to what this error code refers to ? My current version of IE is now dysfunctional too!

OK here is a solution (that worked for me):

a. Install IE9 from: http://internet-explorer.uk.msn.com/

b. Reboot

c. Uninstall IE9 (From: Control Pannel > Programs > Programs and Features > Installed Updates > Windows Internet Explorer 9)

d. Reboot

e. Run windows update and install IE9 (Now it will work).

f. Reboot.

    Interesting that after 4 years the problem still exists....even on fresh installs.

    I have tried every single solution here as well as many other places. All on a fresh install of Windows server 2008 SP1 x86.

    This continues to happen after SP2, after prerequisites installed manually, after fixit for .Net, after fixit for windows installer, after fixit for windows update, after readiness tool, after sfc /scannow, after uninstalling and reinstalling IE8 either manually using the offline install or using windows update.

    Since it is server 2008 x86 SP1/SP2 you can not install IE10 or IE11 so there really is NO FIX

    Im having the same problem to be honest, i spoke to a Microsoft representative and he tapped in to my computer and he couldn't even solve it for an hour and 30 minutes, then gave up unresolved was helpful nether the less, he tried installing iexplorer 11 and tried rebooting several times, he still couldn't do it, its really annoying that this is happening if anyone else knows how to fix this please reply thanks.

    This update has failed over 140 times since early this year.  I have tried everything and I am using IE 11.

    I get error code 9C48 each time.

    Ran the "Fix" program and that did not solve the problem.   Cleaned the registry several times using Regcur, and run virus (Panda) and malware (PC MRI) software, all report everything is OK.  PC is running slow I think but that could be my wireless router which is about 4 years old.

    All other updates I try to install were successful.  I use automatic update for Windows.

    I feel uncomfortable deleting IE for fear I will not be able to get back on the internet to install what ever I need to install after doing that.

    Does Microsoft have a program I can run to directly address this problem?
