Thank you for your input.
In searching for a solution to my Win7 Pro network problem I have been over all of the settings you mentioned before I posted my question and found no problem , everything is as required to have a complete network and the network was fine other than
the occasional missing links I described in my original post. The only addition to the PC configuration since the network was originally set up was automatic updates by MS update.
The good news is that as I have researched this to the max, I found 2 posts in the Win7 network forum that combined provided the fix for my network problem.
As I have been researching this I have noticed many people are having similar network issues. I know there are many reasons for connectivity issues, so the solutions are specific to the problems, but if other network users are experiencing the problem
of multiple instances of Microsoft 6to4 Adapter and local network error 0x80070035 the network path was not found the solution I located has worked for me.

Hello Chris Maresca, or anyone else who may be checking in:
It is five years later but I am having exactly the same problem.
Desktop and Laptop PCs, both running Windows 7 Professional. Wireless router connected to Desktop, thence wirelessly to Laptop. Internet access went away for a while,
but is now functioning on both machines. My Network and Homegroup were working fine, then two days ago they just stopped. Currently, Desktop can see folders on Laptop under the Network heading in Windows Explorer, but not the other way around. Created a Homegroup,
both computers have 'joined', but each reports that there are no other computers in the Homegroup, and I get 'network path not found'. I have caused each computer to 'leave' the Homegroup on both, 're-created' it and had both 'join' - nope.
I have looked at, conservatively, maybe nine million Internet posts,
in this forum and elsewhere, done all of the things suggested that I could do,
all to no avail.
One Internet suggestion was that in Microsoft Security Essentials, 'Network Inspection System' should be turned off. It says go to MSE /
Settings / Real-Time Protection and uncheck that box. But in my MSE, freshly re-downloaded and re-installed just yesterday, that option does not even appear! As I said, it was all working fine until two days ago. I made no changes to the system; the only unusual
thing was trying to get a dead (even if brand new...) Seagate Backup Plus drive to work on the Laptop, but I can't see how that would affect Network or Homegroup. Six months ago, resetting WINSOCK was the solution to the same sort of issue; not this time!
Also just re-enabled Remote Desktop Client on both computers - was already there in both cases - but now a few of the shared folders on Desktop are showing up under Homegroup on the Laptop, but when I try to access them I get the dreaded Error Code: 0x80070035,
an old favourite... Another post suggested editing the Registry to change 'AllowRemoteRPC' value within Terminal Server to 1 - it was already 1 on both computers. The Windows troubleshooters are, predictably, useless. What is so
massively frustrating is that it was working fine, I changed nothing system-wise, then bang - it's all fried. What would cause it go skunky like that? If some piece of hardware failed, you'd think Device Manager would show something. It's all almost
- not quite but almost - enough to make me look into buying a Mac, and nobody wants that...
Can anyone help?
Thank you in advance.
