KB2538242 visual c++ redistributable update on june 2011 keeps trying to install

During the june 2011 update, i have already downloaded the KB 2538242 visual c++ redistributable update but after restart, I still keep on having the same update when I checked. I downloaded it the second time around then restarted then checked for updates again, it is still there. Is this necessary? Why do I keep on getting the update? Do I need to download a lot of KB2538242 update? or is there something wrong with my system? or is it a form of virus?

    I contacted Microsoft after updating 6 times and message still showing. Their email back to me was to uninstall and reinstall. After reading everyone's posts. I am hesitant to do so since I am NOT well versed with computers. It makes me nervous to see issues like this arise.

    I have been using Firefox lately and will try running on Internet Explorer.

    Yes. I got a reply yesterday afternoon fro MS tech support. Again I was told to install vcredist_*.*. I have Windows Home Premium 32 bit. When attempting to install either of these I get the message that my 'processor' doesn't support this???!!!! I hope that MS will soon pay attention that there is a problem with this update and re-issue a proper update. I see there are now four pages with this complaint.

    Mine installed without a problem or so I thought.

    When I look in update history it is there but when I look in installed updates I don't see it.

    I think I see it installed programs but interestingly I see x64 and x86 versions (I have Win 7 64bit).

    Then I read it is a defective update.  So what exactly am I supposed to do?
