What is the BEST Registry Cleaner for Win 7 Ultimate or Pro 64 Bit version OS ?

Getting rid of "junk" entries from the registry is an urban myth.

Orphaned registry entries make little or no difference to the performance of your computer.

There's not been any need to use a registry cleaner since Windows 7 at least...

One that i know is good and fixes registry errors quickly for free is "Registry Recycler"....  Try using it for getting rid of junk registry entries from your OS.

Suffice it to say that neither the COMPONENTS, SAM nor Security hives are exported in a normal .reg export, and that the other hives are very significantly smaller than their .reg files makes them look.

So this means my registry is larger than I thought , or is there a balance between the

missing chunk not exported and the expansion in the export ?

Just out of curiosity (I don't really care how large the registry is) - How does one determine the true size of the registry (maybe I didn't read all the posts fully ?).

While I'm back I'll add that my Win7 install is over three years old.

I did a 'repair' reinstall after the first year due to a problem reading flash drives that was said to

be a fault of the early download version of sp1 (reinstalled sp1 after via Windows Updates).

• In Nov '12  I imaged this same install to my new machine (new activation key used from new OEM disk) and have had no issues beyond the 'normal' problems that come with computing.

With the new image I did a very thorough driver uninstall and cleanup with Driver Sweeper,

and did do a few manual registry deletions, but didn't run a 'cleaner'.

What programs would this be ? Photo editing or something else ? It's no good blaming

Windows for software adding (possibly) unnecessary entries to the registry.

Blame the software developers for that.

And if you're measuring the registry size by the size of an exported .reg files, there is almost nothing more misleading, since there is a huge amount of stuff which is decrypted and expanded in an export - and the export also missing a large chunk of the registry.
