What is the BEST Registry Cleaner for Win 7 Ultimate or Pro 64 Bit version OS ?

to all the morons saying registry cleaners are snake oil;

I can't count on my own two hands the number of times a registry cleaner has saved my bacon. Lets say I go to install something. Something happens during install (internet cuts out for example) and the process is terminated mid-way. I now receive errors when I attempt to continue installation and can't uninstall. will I go into regedit and spend days combing through the keys to *hopefully* find the entry I need to delete?

My stepson decides he wants to use my machine when I'm out. He installs some questionable software which attempts to make a registry entry without his knowledge.

I'd bet the individuals ripping on reg cleaners have at least one "search toolbar" as well. 🤣

personally I use netgate, but to each their own.

Its been a couple of months now, i am using Registry Recycler. Lightweight, easy to use, and fast . Also, does not hurt the system, which is why i would recommend you to use it. Its a free of cost registry cleaner.

I think the main argument here is with running registry cleaners on a regular basis as part

of general system maintenance vs using one when all else fails. 

If there is no known problem using a 'cleaner' does not improve performance.

If you are faced with a reformat, or even a 'repair' reinstall then a running a

registry cleaner is a viable option.

Curious - When you installed the registry cleaner did you do anything else such as run Disk Cleanup

and defragment your HDD, or did  you do nothing else but download, install and run the cleaner ?

Did using the cleaner make you aware of which of the registry entries were causing the lag ?

[ EDIT: @ T-Bone - Doing a System Restore will delete any registry entries that result from a

failed install.

It's more fail-safe as it will delete only the registry entries that resulted from the failed install.

• Of course you could also run a registry cleaner and select only the entries that relate to the

suspect program to delete, and leave what you aren't positive about.

This is generally easier than browsing the Registry . ]
