Sorry Mr. Dolt, but you are one of those clowns who THINK you know a LOT more than you actually do, and are the type who never give you a direct answer.  Good grief, look at how many times DoltBoy replied and STILL never answered the question, about 6 or 7!!

He actually had the nerve to write. "Why do you want to know?"   What arrogance!!!  This is a Questions & Answers forum you DOLT!!

And then look what he wrote on Mar.27'12, "Uninstall Java and see how you get on. You will probably find you don't need it" .... WHA-A-A-??? !!!!  While I am amazed at your persistance over 9 full months, Do NOT write something like that here, WHO KNOWS who might actually do it!! 

I can't believe he kept responding, but its funny, after Mr. Cook finally shared his wisdom with us (though I admit I'm having to look up tautological: Anyone Else? !!  :-), Mr. Dolt FINALLY disappeared!!!  And that's usually what happens with Dolts - they Disappear when Reason show up!

Fortunately there aren't enough of your type in this world to completely drive us crazy or we'd all jump off a cliff!   I would bet at 10 to 1 odds that you are a political Liberal, as are probably 85% of your type.

Unfortunatly the remaining 15% are Conservative, who also do aggrevate us.

PLEASE Mr. Dolt, begin learning how to give a direct reply to a direct question.  You will really be better off for it as will we, and you'll make a lot more friends than you alienate, which I do believe is the current case.

I just wanted to pipe in, even though I don't know if someone else is going to be coming in to look at this.  I wanted to give a little background on my experience with Java.  I worked for a company where I travelled for my job.  My company used a certain expense reporting application that was built on a certain version of Java.  While I was travelling in Europe I was dealing with a European website that allowed you to map out where you were headed, and able to get the results in English.  It was called Maps24 (in English for me) and for me to be able to use the website it called for an update to my Java.

The next time I had to do an expense report the window to log in information would not load for me.  This happened to another person that was working with me.  There were 2 other people that didn't experience this problem (4 of us from the same company.)  It took a long time to figure out the common denominator in our problems.  The other employee with the same problem had also updated Java.  It took us a while to figure out it was this update that had caused the problem.  Our IT people couldn't figure it out.  Once we narrowed it down, our company IT experts knew how to disable this version of Java and use the older version, and then we were able to do our expenses with no problem.

This is just a practical example on what Java can be good for (Internet applications for my job built on one (older) version and an application used by the European Continent to Navigate the roads using a more current version.)

Someone else posted that if you don't want the Java or the SSV Helper you can disable it, and thanks for that information since it's possible I will need to disable the SSV in the future.  The good thing for me is I can turn it off and on again now using the route he described.  So if you don't want the apps running disable them, but if you find something on the Internet that somehow isn't working right, you may want to keep the path in mind on how to enable them again.
