extremely slow reboot

for the updates found and not found I reported the findings on another thread in two different replies (unable to install windows updates error....)

This is a condensed summary:

I was only able to find these listings to confirm:  KB2570947, 2616676, 971029

I was not able to find 2607712, 2559049, 2567680, 2544521, 2393802

These are the 2011 entries:  January to September  (none in October the month for these fixes)

When I viewed the add remove programs for internet explorer for 2011 it had these updates:

For the compatibility pack for the 2007 office system it had thse updates for 2011

Does the missing KB ............. update mean malware despite the multiple scans that are reporting no malware. 

I am getting the impression from you that I am unlikely to get a confirmation???????

One just has to go to the trouble of formating their hard disk and starting all over again?

I would have done that already instead of consuming all this time if it were easy.  At one time I had a failed hard drive and dell sent to me a replacement with preinstalled windows xp and it took a long time to learn how to move things.  They had sent to me a container to place the old hard drive which was connected to the usb port and then I remember having to search for and move files.  I lost all of my programs.  So if I have to do this it seems both painful and time consuming.  That is why I wasand am looking for a confirmation with any of the maleware detectors

Forget about KB2570791!

If KB2607712, KB2559049, KB2567680, KB2544521 and/or KB2393802 are not listed in Add/Remove Programs, you're seeing the effects of a hijackware infection and possibly a rootkit and/or bootkit infection.

And the ONLY way you're EVER going to fix it is by formatting the HDD & then doing a clean install of Windows. If you want me to tell you how to do that AGAIN, just ask. Otherwise, see my most recent replies to ALL of your many, many threads.

I did not understand why you had me look for these other KB numbers in add remove programs.  Windows update indicated that there was a problem with one update.  Does missing the other KB numbers mean that there were problems with other updates that were not reported by windows update?  When viewing windows update there are lots of other updates which are optional that I did not attempt to download or install.  Were all the numbers that you listed for important updates that were once downloaded and installled and then disappeared???
