How do I open an .aspx file?

I have just downloaded an .aspx file.  Windows 7 doesn't know how to open.  How can I open it?

An .ASPX file is a collection of processing routines written in Visual Basic Script. They are typically run from a web server or similar calling program by passing parameters into one or more of the routines.

If you try double-clicking the file, you are attempting to run it. When run out-of-context, e.g. not from a calling program, the .ASPX file can do nothing but damage.

If you want to see the underlying script commands, right click it and select Edit. The file should open in Notepad and you should be able to read the code.

    Go into control panel - Default Programs - Associate a file type etc. - scroll down to "aspx" on the left.

    Top right "Change Program"  select "More Options" then "Acrobat"  Done! at least it worked for me.

    In my Windows 7 control panel, "aspx" is not listed in the Associate file type screen.  So this sequence did not work for me.

    What worked for me...

    Because aspx was not listed in Default Programs - Associate a file type...

    go to your downloaded aspx file, right click, choose properties, under general - opens with, click change, if adobe reader is not listed under recommended, click other programs, find and choose adobe reader, click ok, and ok.

    From then on, all aspx files will open with Adobe Reader.

    Worked for me too. However,  I only needed to open it as "Open with", then choose Acrobat + "Always use the selected program..." option. Thank you.

    I was in the same situation but on Windows 8. After reading this I tried opeing it with Adobe Reader and it worked straight away. I can open a .aspx file with Adobe Reader and view it as a .pdf. Easy peasy. Hopefully this works the same on Windows 7.

    In windows 8.1 you simply right click on the file then click on open with. Find a pdf reader and click okay. any pdf reader will open the file. of courde you can go to default programs and change the default  .aspx to your pdf program of choice.
