Major Mouse problems, Left click acting like right click, very annoying!

Hey guys I have a really annoying problem. I have read about it on-line as other people seem to have experienced it but there is no real definitive answer. On rare occasions, my mouse will act funny. When you press the left button, it will act as the right, and the right button will continue to act as the right one. When you go into the mouse settings, even if you swap them around it still acts like there's two right clicks and no left click buttons. I have tried a number of suggestions from elsewhere on the web including re-booting my pc several times, trying to update windows, disabling the mouse, re-installing, using a different mouse etc.. no matter what I do the problem persists.

The only way to get the mouse back to normal is either to turn the pc off and leave it a few hours, in which case sometimes even that does not work. The only other time it rectifies itself is on its own. Sometimes it will just correct itself without you doing anything to it. I will be very thankful for any advice anyone can give. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know anything at all about it? Thanks BTW My system info: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit, Amd Athlon X2 2.2GHz CPU, 4GB Ram, XFX - MI-A78U-8309 M/B, Few SATA drives, Logitech MK300 Wireless K/Board and Mouse.

Can you go to start\control panel\system and security\Administrator Tools\Event Viewer

Please check if you have any error message under the Applications

than publish here or go to our website with this error issue to search

    Brilliant! I have the "left mouse acts as right" showing up several times today, and your suggestion of holding ctrl+shift for a few seconds and then hitting alt cleared it up! Now if only the control wheel would come back. It has not worked for hours after working for 3 days solid.

    Note that I am hosting on Windows 10 with the excellent Microsoft ergonomic bouse and controlling a new Macbook Pro with Chrome Remote Desktop. Chrome and the Mac are pretty finicky, and these mouse problems are deeply annoying. I'd toss Chrome to the curb were there a useful alternative.

    if it opens up properties usually means your alt key is stuck. long press it or unplug your keyboard will usually solve it. Also try a restart as that can help reset the keyboard.

    Hi Cem. Are you a microsoft tech or have links with the bug fixers? The sudden and mysterious "Left button behaves as right while right remains the same" is at least a 20 year old bug that Microsoft has most definitely failed to recognize and fix. I'm not sure about win 3.1 as I never really used it, but win 95 definitely had the problem. In fact at an official Microsoft event in Auckland New Zealand showcasing the coming launch of win 98 the problem embarrasingly occurred with the presenter and she was at a loss for what to do while she wisely distracted the audience. I have perspnally continued to frequently experience this mouse issue since on every major upgrade of windows and am currently experiencing it also on my Acer win 10 laptop trackpad! 

    There IS a temporary fix to this by repeatedly pressing both buttons simutaneously, which has worked for me on all versions of win 95 through win 10... MICROSOFT PLEASE FIX THIS AGE-OLD BUG!
