Major Mouse problems, Left click acting like right click, very annoying!

Hey guys I have a really annoying problem. I have read about it on-line as other people seem to have experienced it but there is no real definitive answer. On rare occasions, my mouse will act funny. When you press the left button, it will act as the right, and the right button will continue to act as the right one. When you go into the mouse settings, even if you swap them around it still acts like there's two right clicks and no left click buttons. I have tried a number of suggestions from elsewhere on the web including re-booting my pc several times, trying to update windows, disabling the mouse, re-installing, using a different mouse etc.. no matter what I do the problem persists.

The only way to get the mouse back to normal is either to turn the pc off and leave it a few hours, in which case sometimes even that does not work. The only other time it rectifies itself is on its own. Sometimes it will just correct itself without you doing anything to it. I will be very thankful for any advice anyone can give. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know anything at all about it? Thanks BTW My system info: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit, Amd Athlon X2 2.2GHz CPU, 4GB Ram, XFX - MI-A78U-8309 M/B, Few SATA drives, Logitech MK300 Wireless K/Board and Mouse.

Can you go to start\control panel\system and security\Administrator Tools\Event Viewer

Please check if you have any error message under the Applications

than publish here or go to our website with this error issue to search

    Sounds very similiar to my issue.... I went to control panel\system and security\administrator tools\event viewer. I assume you were referring to a yellow exclamation point on the left after "applications and event logs". There is none, unless I need to open the fifty folders contained within the cisco and microsoft folders.

    My problem started after restoring my computer after a "serious cyber virus" called FBI Greendot moneypak. After reading for hours about that virus removal, I just restored my computer to 4 days prior which completely removed the virus, or seemed to.... which is when my mouse started its issues.  It highlights stuff when ya dont want it to, and wont highlight stuff when ya want it to.

    I am looking at a formatting if I can't figure it out soon, any input would be appreciated, Thanks!

    I had the same problem! I tried everything and just happened to fix it by myself! Do you happen to have a Dell? If so, go to control panel > mouse > then click on the further left tab on top "dell touchpad" > click on the picture of the touchpad > button settings > change the "middle" clicker to "click" and that should fix it!

    I'm pretty sure that updating or reinstalling (remove it - it should reinstall itself) the mouse driver will do the trick. In the case of the use I supported, I believe there was a conflict in her external mouse & the built-in touchpad (NOT a Dell, BTW).

    Anyway - the "quick fix" that worked for me when there was no time to do that? Simply USE the right-click (which will get the same results as the annoying left click) and then go back to using the left click & everything was normal again.

    I have the same problem ! And i dont think its mouse problem , changed mouse tryed many things , and even if i unplug mouse and use keyboard to control mouse the problem is same ! When i click with any button on mouse i get left click only . And same witn keyboard.

    So i think its Win 7 problem only got it there ! I tryed other mouse , tryed reinstalling win7 and , reinstalling new drivers . But problem come backs , but not always doing it , totaly frustrating , and interesting .
