A required CD/DVD device driver is missing, usb installation

I'm trying to install windows 7 on my freshly built pc by using a usb device (no cd drive as of yet). I followed this guide to do this: http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-install-windows-7vista-from-usb-drive-detailed-100-working-guide/.

Whenever I try and boot the device on my new computer I get the "cd/dvd device driver missing..." error and a box for me to select drivers. I have tried changing the boot order in the BIOS but to no avail and I wanted to  change my sata ahci mode  but I couldn't find this option (american microtrends v1.6 bios).

I'd really appreciate it if somebody could help me solve this issue.

Ok, I've actually solved this myself via the help of a thread on tom's hardware. I'll post it here for anyone else struggling with the same issue:

OK now is the truth. This is the solution.

I assume all of you is using USB drive to install.

When Windows is asking for driver, just click Cancel. You will be brought back to the welcome screen. At the welcome screen, remove your USB drive, insert it back to DIFFERENT USB PORT. Click Install Now again. The installation process will be like usual.

This problem happened to all new version of updated Windows 7 installer. I think, it is due to failure of Windows installer to remain its detection to the USB drive. It lost the connection, and became confused, don't know where to find the USB drive it used to read before.

When we re-insert the USB drive, Windows installer will detect the USB drive back, and continue like usual.

    EVERYONE...HERE IS THE SECRET...

    I used WinRAR to expand the .img (or .iso) file into an installation folder of files that WinToFlash can use to make a bootable USB drive.

    When I used FlashBoot, somehow when it created the USB bootable drive...it did so seamlessly...BUT

    When I used WinToFlash (from the folder of files created by WinRAR)...in the process...it stumbled onto a screen that forced me to accept the license terms of the "build" BEFORE it would write the files to the USB drive..in other words...WINDOWS INSTALL KNEW it was going from an iso/img to another bootable format...and I HAD to accept the terms...(At this point, I was getting excited...!!)

    The new bootable USB is a kick in the pants...I will use it EVERYWHERE...as I have dozens of licenses...of many different OS's...XP-PRO (32 bit AND 64 bit), NO VISTA, but Win 7 Prof and Ult...

    Worked like a charm...in fact...the install from USB took all of 6 minutes...

    USE WinRAR and WinToFlash...

    Drivers are NOT needed.

    Hint...here is how I partitioned MY drives:..

    C:  40 GB for Win 7 OS (64 Bit)

    E:  60 GB for Win 7 Apps

    G:  40 GB for WIN XP OS (32 Bit)

    H:  60 GB for WIN XP Apps

    J:  Remainder  Data for all apps and storage...

    Well...having the same problem...

    I just have a gut feeling that it is a device driver...but here is kicker...

    Any device drivers that XP (32 bit) allow to load are just 32 bit drivers...and since my install is a Win7 SP1 Ultimate 64 BIT...fresh...with a new clean SSD...I need 64 bit drivers.

    Am loading the new OS with a 16 GB fast USB drive..from an .img file that I am allowed to use via my companies MAPS subscription...and used flahboot to create the bootable USB drive.

    Any suggestions??

    Hi, your solution didn't work for me, but the first time I tried to do this, I was using FlashBoot utility to setup my Boot USB, and I got this problem. After many times of trying, I set it up again using WinToFlash, and it worked great.
