how do I get rid of a split e-mail screen and back to a full e-mail screen to read mail?

How do I restore screen back to a full screen to read my e-mails??  It is now a screen split in half!  Also when sending an outgoing e-mail it notifies me "error, pop 3"   & tells me e-mails "not sent."    What does that mean????   Please help!!??

    I have no beta button at the top of my screen.  This only happens when I use the envelope icon in the system tray to get to my emails.  At that spot I don't go to the internet at all.  If I go online to Hotmail.com sign in everything is fine.

    When you are on your inbox screen, the stripe above the page where it says delete, move to, etc. Now move to your right and there will be up and down arrows and an X. Right next to that I have what looks like a on/off slide button that says Beta.
