Windows 7 update install time taking a very long time

Well I have a Windows 7 OS, and I shut down my laptop yesterday but then it automatically went in sleep mode as I slept. As I awoken it in the morning I see its at installing updates 32 of 45. Though I see the same thing in the night with no change.  I also see my hard-drive light flashing like it normally does when it's doing something but is this normal and if not what can I do? Also this computer is only 3 days old, and I have not made a recovery media due to lack of media I can use to use for the back up.

You may restart your computer, then use the below steps and check if this helps resolve the issues-

Method 1: You may use the windows update troubleshooter and check if it lists and resolves any issues -

Method 2: Also I would suggest you to check in the update history if you are getting any error codes for the failed updates. If you get any errors, do provide us the same to assist you better. To check the recent updates installed on your computer.

View updates history -

a. Click Start, Settings and then control panel (all items view). Click on the Windows Update icon.

b. Click on view update history link.

c. To view the details of a single update select and right click on a listed windows update, then click on view details. Click Close when done.

Method 3: **** Use the system update readiness tool –

Download the System Readiness Tool.The System Update Readiness Tool checks your computer and tries to resolve certain conditions that could interfere with the installation of updates or other software.Here is a link to download System Readiness Tool; you may do it according to the exact configuration of the computer:

****After you download and then run the System Update Readiness Tool, restart your computer. Then check if you are able to install the updates properly.

    Hope everyone's day is going well. *EVERYONE needs to remember that when you get ready to start downloading a big program (Like Windows 10, or any other big updates) from the web, this is a massive undertaking between your computer and the host computer. Depending on what typed of service you have (DSL) and the speed of your connection, those things will dictate how long it will take that program to download to your computer.**BEFORE you start the download, do a speed test for your computer's download and upload speeds (this can be found online, many times available from your ISP), and this will give you at least a base time in hours.**Files in the GB size will take a fairly long time, again, depending on the speed.**Another good idea is to go into your computer settings, and change the "Power Plan" (for Windows).*This way, you can change what your computer does when you close the lid. This can be changed to "Do Nothing" so that if you DO have to be away from your computer during the download to sleep, eat or whatever, you can close the lid on your laptop to help assure there isn't any inadvertent keyboard strikes while the process is going on. Also remember that big downloads will keep your computer running and working non stop for a significant amount of time. If at all possible, set your computer in a cool place. In general, the cooler the environment for your computer, the better your computer likes it. BUT DO NOT PUT YOUR COMPUTER IN THE FRIDGE OR FREEZER (there is a big difference between being cool and being frozen).

    After days of waiting for Windows Update and NOTHING Updating "0". I entered Product Key and immediately Updates started. First 2  and restarted then 9 more and restarted then said it's up to date with Green Check. I know from experience I have to wait a while for Windows to realize it has a few hundred more updates to get caught up. Floodgates should be open now.

    The Microsoft tecniccians wold be trained to be idiots. I don't know whats happen, every year they came worst. this is ridiculous to install a W7 take 3 or 4 days.

    Hi Meghmala, 

    This tool takes more than hour (and counting) to "search for updates", I'm not sure if it works at all to be honest. 

    What is going on?
