Is "RegClean Pro by Systweak" as they state a "Microsoft Gold Certified Partner"?

I am with you - I cannot find them on Microsoft list - I let them into my computer - and now I have major issues with it - I also gave them my credit card and they charged me $249 - They have supposedly helped me with issues but I never had those issues until I bought their software>

Same thing happened to me and when I phoned tech support they asked me to download AMMYY which is a software program that allows THEM to access MY computer.  No way am I allowing anybody to do that.  And if you google AMMYY, you'll see tons of warnings about it being a scam. 

Interesting that they are now saying they are microsoft certified.  When I fell for their scam they were Mcafee certified. 

Wouldn't trust this company as far as I could throw them . . . .

It's not uncommon for a tech support company to try and solve an issue for you by "remote-controlling" your computer. In your case, it was definitely for malicious purposes, but many legitimate companies and services will try to solve a problem for you this way, rather than ask you a million questions and tell you to click a dozen things over the phone. I've done this for my own website's users several times. Its a whole lot easier.

AMMYY itself is not a "scam". I did Google it, but the warnings were that it could be used by scammers - not that its a scam itself. Rather, it's a legitimate tool that can be used by scammers for malicious purposes. Don't be afraid to allow a *legitimate* tech support rep try and fix your issue by remote control, but you should only do this with companies/services you know and trust.

Most remote-control programs I've used lets you watch every move the remote-controller does, in realtime. When using this method, Its always a good idea to watch them fix your computer! Don't take your eyes off it. If they appear to be downloading & installing something, always ask what it is. If you get even the least bit suspicious, cut your internet connection immediately! If you don't have quick access to your network cable, router switch, cable modem switch, then just press and hold your computer's power button. Be ready!

As for software, you can always Google the name of an app to find out if it's legit. Do this BEFORE downloading/installing it. And since anyone can create malicious software, name it anything they want and put it on the web, it's important to make sure you're downloading it from a link that you followed from the REAL developer's website. (Of course, you'll need to find that out too when Googling.) Oh, oops, this's Microsoft, should I tell people to Bing it instead? Anyway. The same thing goes for that "Microsoft Certified" thing. I just loaded up a laptop I was asked to fix, and there's like 7 or 8 malware apps on here, and every single one has that Microsoft Certified stamp on it. I myself can whip up some kind of malware, put a name on it of some existing legit app, and copy/paste the Microsoft Certified seal on it...won't make it the least bit true.

It's sad to say, but browsing Today's Internet is like walking down a shady street full of criminals, all looking to steal from you. You have a wallet full of cash, very little protection or "street smarts", and every criminal on this street knows it. The best protection you can have - better than any antivirus/anti-malware app - is an informed mind. When I browse the web, I'm suspicious of everything I see. I believe nothing of what I read unless its from a known, trusted source. It wasn't like this back in the early days when I first got online in '97, and it was very disheartening to sit and watch the so-called integrity of the internet crumble into nothing, year by year! But that's what it is now, and the best way to navigate the web now is to arm yourself with knowledge. :)

I think SYSTWEAK ar OK. ADVANCED SYSTEM PROTECTOR is what I do have now!

I got in touch with Microsoft and they say they are

not working with 3 part something.

but at the same time  they say

IT WILL WORK WITH WINDOWS!

well well, i have it now on my COMPUTER

IT WORKS AND IT HAS CLEANED OUT A LOT OF GARBAGE THAT SLOWED MY COMPUTER DOWN.

I talked with them, (India) they did work at least 3 hours with my computer and now it runs like new!

It is FUNNY ....THAT IT IS SO VERY VERY HARD TO GET AN ANSWER FROM MICROSOFT!

So I do think I will keep it!
