This worked for me...

1. Access this file location C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Downloadand delete everything there. (Note delete only content found there and not the Download folder itself)
2. Open CMD (command prompt) with run as administrator (admin privileges) and run this command: wuauclt.exe /updatenow

The Update Window should pop-up with downloading Windows 10 again, and if your lucky it will be the complete kit this time.

Is it 2699,1 MB total? I hope everything goes well for my PC with the install.

It depends on your Windows version, language etc. My was over 2.8GB. There is also another hidden folder on C:\ $WINDOWS.~BT that contains several GB of data but this is normally downloaded earlier.

none of the suggested solutions will work until the cause of 0x80240020 is solved. according to M$ this error means :

WU_E_NO_INTERACTIVE_USER Operation did not complete because there is no logged-on interactive user. ( https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/938205 )

Why there needs to be an interactive user is, is a mystery to me.

according to MSDN an interactive user is:

The interactive user is the user that is currently logged on to the computer where the COM server is running. If the identity is set to be the interactive user, all clients use the same instance of the server if the server registers its class factory as multi-use.

but this still doesn't explain why windows 7 updates, which is ables to pickup and install all other updates, is failing to install the "Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro" update.

maybe adding the current user to the "Distributed COM users" group might do it.

"Distributed COM Users" group description: Members are allowed to launch, activate and use Distributed COM objects on this machine.

This worked fine for me. I was using Windows 7 professional. I have reserved my upgrade for more than two months as on today. The get Windows 10 app always shown "we have reserved your upgrade and we will notify". I tried to install manually. Got the above error. Then i followed these steps. Download for Windows 10 has automatically started...
