2010-12-24T20:55:38+00:00 The zune software will automatically add media provided that you A) Are in a format that is recognized by the software and B) place them into the proper folder that the software is monitoring. By default, if you have W7 the software will monitor your libraries (music, videos, podcasts, pictures).

2010-12-24T23:17:13+00:00 How about a feature that automatically scans your media folders to add new items instead of having to drag 'n drop them into Zune? Right now, I'm only using my 120 as a mobile jukebox, no games, pics, video or 'casts. I rip my CDs and vinyl into a work folder, then copy the final copy into my Zune folder, THEN have to drag them into the Zune software. Zune should be able to recognize this.
Zune does this, and it's instant. If it isn't working for you then you may have your library set up incorrectly or on a non-Windows formatted drive. The Zune settings has a list of watched folders. Make sure that your main music folder is included.
Make sure the folder your music is in is included in your Zune library (in Windows 7 your music folder will be in your music library by default, and Zune will use this by default).
If your library is stored on a network drive (or similar), the drive may not be formatted to NTFS. Windows has a feature that monitors a folder and this will notify the Zune software instantly if a file change is detected in your watched folders (e.g. a new file is added to the folder). This feature doesn't work on drives not formatted to NTFS, which is the case with a lot of network storage devices.

2010-12-24T23:30:55+00:00 I want 1 system for organizing and playing my media on my PC,my Laptop,My tablet computer, my TV, My X-box, My Zune(which I havent gotten yet because im waiting for them to fix the ZunePC issue)
If I want to watch a movie I should be able to just do that from any of my devices. If I want to see what movies I have in my collection..I should be able to do that from any of my devices,
And it should look GOOD
Right now there this HUGE list of programs for that and none do everything that it should do.
You have Windows media center.
Windows Media player.
Zune for the PC.
Im not sure what Xbox has.
They need to concentrate on 1 Media Player and make that 1 Media player worth using.
I don't see that happening anytime soon. Microsoft is out of touch with its users.
Maybe I'm wrong and maybe Microsoft is hard at work on these issues as we speak.
And maybe the Real Santa will come this year. But I doubt it.
I am baffled at how slow Microsoft is at achieving this. All the pieces are there, and it doesn't seem like a huge task to get everything lined up better. It's as if there are totally separate companies making each of these products and they don't communicate at all. Apple seem capable of sorting this stuff out quite quickly, yet Microsoft has done very little in the last 5 years to get their various media products working together. This is a multi-billion dollar company, yet they can't get a bit of interoperability between their media applications?
To play devil's advocate a little, the issues with playing movies on multiple devices is due to licencing restrictions placed by the content providers. Though Apple don't seem to have the same inconsistent availability issues. I can buy tons of movies, TV shows, and music from iTunes in my country, but from Zune all I can buy is a handful of movies. The selection is so small it's not even worth bothering with. And the fact that some movies work on the Zune, some on the PC, NONE through Media Center, some are rental only, some are buy only, etc. It's a terrible mess.
