ive just installed Zune (with the aim of getting used to it as i plan on getting a Windows Phone soon).

I must say i LOVE IT. I do have a few suggestions though:

    • crossfading! WMP has had this for years, so why not add it to Zune?
    • Better Autoplaylists - The ability to setup autoplaylists based on criteria like: "Genre CONTAINS xxxx; Genre DOESNT CONTAIN xxx, etc. this is one thing thats missing from both Zune AND WMP. Each "tag" needs a CONTAINS & DOESNT CONTAIN option for setting up autoplaylists.
    • The ability to edit tags. I know some tags can be edited for video files but cant figure it out for music. It'll be nice if you could even edit Zune specific (ie not only the standard ID3/Windows Media etags)media tags from with a tag editor.

I just wanna say - I reeeeally miss the channels :(. I loved having channels dedicated to a type of workout, specific chosen songs which you KNOW are supposed to make a certain workout more productive. $15/month for that might be worth it, or whatever it costs, even if tonnns of artists have been pulled by greedy labels. WIll they ever come bacK?

Basic playlist management feature not available in zune!!!!

I really cannot understand how people can manage their music w zune software, i am an old user of mp3 files with some 14k songs in my collection of about 80GB...

I got two folders named 80s and 90s which i cannot convert into autoplaylists because you can only manage your collection w metadata/ID3 tags...  Well, guess what?  Most of the metadata in my collection is incorrect...  Just cannot use zune for anything serious, had to return the device...

Suggestion:  autoplaylist based on the contents of a folder that zune is monitoring, so every time i edit that folder, my list is updated....  (i.e. add to autoplaylist criteria "file location or folder")

Could you at least add that feature to the zune software?  Browsing by folders would be also nice to see only the songs located in that particular folder

PS: ideally Microsoft should open the zune to allow other managing programs to be used, such as mediamonkey, see my other post right before this one

    Thks

    Most basic suggestion ever....

Zune cannot compete against iPod on same level, zune sale numbers absolutely confirm that...  What is MS doing wrong if the hardware is obviously superior to the ipod classic?  Very simple, trying to emulate Apple....

Instead, zune should be an open system, allowing other programs to manage the device and basically use it as the costumer wants, either as an ipod, but even as an external hard drive that can play the files too...

Only by opening the Zune to people, it will become a real iPod killer!!!!

    You are welcome

I like having this Feature Request and Suggestion thread going.

My suggestion for Zune 5.0 software:  Add a column on the Zune software (similar to the device icon to see which songs are synced) that shows which songs are owned and which aren't.

The reason: we get 10 credits per month, but rarely does an album have exactly 10 songs.  Often I need to get the rest of the album the following month, but I don't always know which tracks I've already used credits on.  This should be a simple, convenient fix for this problem.

    Thanks!
