Hi,

Which game are you trying to install?

Download and run the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer on your computer and then try to start the game.

Here’s the download link:

I have the exact same problem ever since the latest Windows 10 update.  I've had to reinstall various C++ redistributables to get some of my software to work again, and now some of my steam games are refusing to work.

Project Cars (Which was already installed and working prior to the windows update) is asking for d3dx_43.dll and the installer from your link refuses to work regardless of what compatibility settings I run it in.  (It constantly says I need to be running Win 98/Me/XP/2003)

I know this post is like seven years old, but since it's not locked for future posts, might as well give the issue I'm having. I'm running Windows 10 Home, with 4 GB of Ram, and a Intel Pentium N4200 at 1.1 GHz. It's a x64 based processor, and it's a 64-bit Operating system. Well, when I downloaded the file, as always, when I click on the file, it says the following:

    Error creating process

<C:\Users\JHaki\AppData\Local\Temp\IXP000.TMP\dxwsetup.exe>. Reason: The requested operation requires elevation.

What the heck? This literally doesn't mean anything! I was hoping that this would solve my problem so I could play Game Boy games on my laptop while I'm out, but I can't because the god darn installer won't work at all!
