Hi,

Method 1:

Disconnect all the external devices (printers, scanner, USB (Universal Serial Bus) drives, etc...)Except mouse and the keyboard and then boot up.

If this corrects the issue then add the devices back one at a time until you discover the piece of hardware causing the issue. Then get any updated drivers\software for the device.

Method 2:

If you still come across the issue, I suggest you to run Hardware Troubleshooter and then check for the issue.

If you still come across the issue, I suggest you to run Hardware Troubleshooter and then check for the issue.

a)     Open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by clicking the Start button and then clicking Control Panel.

b)     In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click Troubleshooting. Under Hardware and Sound, click Configure a device.‌

c)       If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Access the link below to know more about Hardware Troubleshooter:

**http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Open-the-Hardware-and-Devices-troubleshooter**

Method 3:

If the above step does not help us to diagnose the issue, uninstall the drivers for USB [Universal Serial bus] host controller and restart the computer. Let Windows install the generic drivers and then see if it helps you to fix the issue.

a)     Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, then Device Manager in the search box.‌

b)     If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

c)      Look for the device under USB [Universal Serial bus] host controller, right click on it and select Uninstall.

d)     Reboot the computer.

e)     On reboot, Windows 7 should re-install the drivers automatically.

Method 4:

If the above methods don’t work you can try to reinstall the drivers for your Canon Camera. To do so refer the link provided below:

Hope it helps. Please let us know for further assistance.

    About 5 days ago I began having this problem.  I tried EVERY solution online and still no luck, so I opened conrol panel>uninstall a program to look at what had recently been installed. 2 things stuck out. The first was a McAfee program that I actually d/l'd from google play.  It links with your PC so you can do things like track a missing phone, lock the phone remotely (from your PC), and even send a message that when viewed quietly snaps a photo of who has your phone.  I already had McAfee antivirus on my PC, so I uninstalled the other program from my smatphone and PC.  AND.....drum roll please... voila: my MTP USB showed right back up and and now my phone shows up in widows explorer like it used to...sort of like a secondary hard drive...sure beats Airdroid!  One more thing...I also completely exited out of malwarebytes before giving it a go, so it could be any number of antivirus software causing the problem..I would temporarily turn each one off till you find one that lets your phone (or camera, etc) link to your PC. Hope this was helpful...I spent 5 days trying to to fix it!

    win + R -> regedit

    HEKY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> SYSTEM --> CurrentControlset --> Control --> Class --> {EEC5AD98-8080-425F-922A-DABF3DE3F69A}

    delete upperFilter

    Above solution worked perfectly for me to solve the problem .

    Thank You Scott.
